Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Thursday took to Twitter to share some piece of advice to all the Opposition parties in order to keep a united stand against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Singh, in his tweets, not just took potshots at the ruling party but also attacked Bihar Chief Minster Nitish Kumar, who had recently stepped out of the grand alliance to form a new government in the state. He said, “Message for Opposition – Prepare to fight this unitedly or Perish. Going the Nitish way won’t work.”

“The day BJP feels it can fight on their own they would throw out Nitish. They never forget or forgive. Nitish ji don’t be in any illusion,” read his other tweet. This is not for the first time that Singh has attacked the JDU leader. Few days back, the Congress leader had said that Nitish has betrayed the people of the state by joining hands with the BJP. Singh also added that he (Nitish) has not won the ‘confidence vote’ but ‘betrayal confidence vote’ to remain in power.

“This person (Nitish Kumar) used to say that Mitti Me Mil Jaunga, par Bajpa se hath nahi milaunga (I will prefer to be reduced to dust, rather than joining hands with BJP),” Singh had earlier said while speaking to media. “Now this man has betrayed the people of Bihar by joining hands with the BJP. But, the people of that state are going to teach a lesson to Nitish,” he said.

When asked about the impact of breaking of the grand alliance on the Opposition, Singh had said that Nitish’s alliance with BJP will not hit the opposition unity in the 2019 general elections. “Democracy and public in the country are mature enough and it is not wise to draw any conclusion about the forthcoming 2019 general elections,” he added.

On August 1, Singh was removed as party’s in-charge of Telangana. Party officials stated that Congress president Sonia Gandhi has approved a new AICC (All India Congress Committee) team to look after the party affairs in Telangana.
