Congress is the ruling party in Karnataka but on Thursday the Grand Old party found itself in an embarrassing situation after a video, of a senior MLA, went viral. The Congress MLA, K N Rajanna in the video described Congress as ‘a party of thieves’ as per Times of India report. Rajanna is a Congress MLA from Madhugiri constituency in Tumakuru district. He made the following statement during a public event at Thimmalapur near Madhugiri a few days back. In the video, the Congress MLA starts by thanking the people of Thimmalapur for giving a new life in politics at a time when Congress is having a real tough time nationwide. He continued talking and said, the Congress is like a party thieves. If there is someone who is efficient and working honestly, the leaders in the party cast an evil eye on such people and do not allow them to scale up, reported TOI report.
So far the reason for the sudden outburst by the Congress MLA is unknown. As per TOI sources, Rajanna was not happy with the party leaders for scrapping his chances of becoming a cabinet minister during the last reshuffle. Interestingly, Rajanna is close to the Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and he had hoped that he will join the cabinet. But this could not be done as there was opposition from a few leaders in the Congress party. Rajanna took a dig at the current leaders and also recalled Indira Gandhi’s tenure and said that during her time as the leader there was discipline in the party, as per the TOI report.
