The ruling BJP in Goa today mocked the Congress over its demand for an opinion poll on the issue of casinos in the state, stating that it was the latter, which introduced the casino culture here.
“Recently, Goa Congress chief Luizinho Faleiro demanded opinion poll on the issue of casinos in Goa.
He wanted to know whether people want casinos or not. His statement is a big joke. If they remember, it was they who bought casinos into Goa,” BJP legislator Siddharth Kuncolienkar said in presence of state party chief Vinay Tendulkar.
“We feel that Congress should have taken an opinion poll before bringing this concept (of casinos) into the state,” he added.
“They (Congress) are not at all serious. First of all they should know how to handle their own legislators, then look at state’s issues,” he said.
Faleiro had recently demanded that the advertisement promoting casinos should be stopped. He had also said that there should be an opinion poll on the casino issues in Goa.
