Keeping up with the larger trend of schools across UP being closed for extended periods due to heavy fog and extreme cold, Noida’s district administration recently passed the order for the suspension of physical classes for students in schools up to class 8th.
All schools up to Class 8 across Gautam Buddh Nagar district will remain closed till January 15 in view of dense fog and severe cold conditions, the district administration said on Sunday. The closure applies to all schools from nursery to Class 8 affiliated with CBSE, ICSE, IB, UP Board and other boards operating in the district.
Re-opening dates may vary
The closures are linked to persistent dense fog and low visibility disrupting safe travel for children. Parents are advised to stay updated through official school and district notifications, as reopening dates may vary by district and class level.
According to a report by the Press Trust of India (PTI), the decision has been taken in compliance with the directions of the district magistrate. The order issued by Basic Education Officer Rahul Pawar dated January 9, stated that the instructions must be strictly followed by all institutions.
The Basic Education Officer warned that strict action will be taken as per rules against schools found violating the order by reopening during the stipulated period.
What about students above class 8?
Classes for students above grade 8 may continue as per revised timings or local instructions, depending on weather conditions and school-level advisories. Authorities said further decisions will be taken based on updated weather assessments.
Schools have also been asked to ensure that online communication channels remain active to keep parents informed. The decision comes amid a sustained cold wave across the National Capital Region, with dense fog severely impacting early morning travel and daily routines.
Weather officials have warned that such conditions are likely to persist over the next few days, prompting administrations across several districts in Uttar Pradesh to issue similar advisories or temporary closures for younger classes.
