Chidambaram Kashmir Remarks: Jitendra Singh hits back, says Congress responsible for situation in Valley

Holding the previous UPA Government responsible for J&K situation, Jitendra Singh said Chidambaram and his colleagues should be grateful that Narendra Modi Government are trying to undo wrong decisions taken by them.

MoS PMO Jitendra Singh on Monday slammed Congress leader P Chidambaram for his remarks on situation in Jammu & Kashmir. Holding the previous UPA Government responsible for J&K situation, Jitendra Singh said Chidambaram and his colleagues should be grateful that Narendra Modi government is trying to undo wrong decisions taken by them.

“Unhein ehsaanmand hona chahiye, dhanyawad karna chahiye ki Modi sarkar prayashchit kar rahi hai inkey gunaahon ka,” said Jitendra Singh. “Chidambaram ji jab HM they to kayi prayog kiye.Interlocutor appoint kiye,all party delegation lekar gaye,”  he added.

At a Hyderabad event, Chidambaram had slammed NDA government for mishandling the situation in Kashmir. The former minister said that a series of mistakes were committed in the state, which were “almost too late” to be corrected now. Criticising the recent comment by Army Chief General Bipin Rawat, where he had said anyone interfering with security operations will be treated as anti-national, Chidambaram said that the statement was “thoughtless”. The former finance minister added that graphs of killings in Kashmir has also raised alarmingly in Jammu and Kashmir.

He had also said that unless the government engage the people of the state for talks, the faith of the people in the Centre may be lost. He said that he had written five columns on the state on different dates, if they are read together then one may get the feeling that state is nearly lost. He added that minorities,dalits live in fear and the Parliament, which should debate without bitterness has become disfunctional. He also asked if democracy fails then what the future generation will get.
