Once only a writer, Chetan Bhagat has turned into a celebrity over the years. The author has a massive fan base among Indian youth and has appeared on a reality TV show as a judge too. The 43-year-old is an active user on the micro-blogging website Twitter as well. However, he has often faced the brunt of trolls for sharing his opinion on political and social issues freely. And this time, it all started innocuously enough. Chetan Bhagat amassed 10 million followers on Twitter by Thursday afternoon and decided to celebrate it through a tweet.

However, in his tweet, the author took a dig at cricketers, actors, models and politicians, which didn’t go down well with Twitterati. “No pouting selfies. No cleavage photos. No six pack displays. No position of power. No child of someone famous. No actor. No cricketer. No model. Just a writer who had a dream now with one crore followers. Thank you all for the 10 million. No words to express my gratitude. Stay positive,” he tweeted. Whether Chetan Bhagat did it on purpose or not is still not clear. Here is Chetan Bhagat’s tweet celebrating 10 million followers:

Interestingly, soon after this tweet, people started unfollowing Chetan Bhagat, as per a report by The Indian Express. His account reflected 9.9 million instead of 10 million, and people took a dig at him for that too! “Looks like .1 million unfollowed you after this cringy tweet,” one of them correctly pointed out.
