This has caught the attention of none other than Justice Markandey Katju who took to facebook and posted his reaction on his personal wall.
Justice Markandey Katju, one of India’s most prolific judges who is often in the news for speaking his mind on concurrent issues via social media is back in news again. This time his target is Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal and his recent statement of declaring Amritsar a ‘holy city’ if voted to power.
Earlier the Chief Minister of Delhi had tweeted that if voted to power his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will grant the status of ‘holy city’ to Sri Amritsar Sahib walled city and Sri Anandpur Sahib.
This has caught the attention of none other than Justice Markandey Katju who took to Facebook and posted his reaction on his personal wall.
AAP promises status of “holy city” to Sri Amritsar Sahib walled city and Sri Anandpur Sahib

Justice Katju strongly objected to Kejriwal’s ‘holy city’ jibe of Amritsar and said that this type of statements will destroy and question the very secular fabric of our country.
“In my opinion, the Delhi CM has stooped to the lowest level and that there are a host of other cities like Allahabad ( Prayag ), Varanasi, Ayodhya, Mathura, Puri, Dwarka, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Gaya, Maheshwar, Madurai, etc ( by Hindus ) and Ajmer ( by Muslims ) etc which will also demand the status of ‘holy city’ once Amritsar is granted the status of holy city,” said Justice Katju in his post.
Justice Katju also pointed out that once the country has suffered because of BJP’s Ram Mandir (on Babri Masjid site) plank.
In conclusion the former Chief Justice of Delhi High Court says that he feels Arvind Kejriwal is nothing more than a demagogue and mountebank, who has nothing in his head and can go to any level to get votes.
