The recent announcement made by the election commission crowns BJP as the winner for the Anjaw Assembly seat in Arunachal Pradesh lately. BJP’s Dasanglu Pul has won the assembly seat by a margin of 944 votes. The Anjaw bypoll election was necessitated following the death of former Arunachal Pradesh CM and Dansanglu’s husband Kalikho Pul.
Currently, Dasanglu Pul has support of the People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA), which is in power and is also a BJP ally. Kalikho Pul, resigned from Congress to become the Chief Minister with the BJP’s support. Sometime later he was found dead under mysterious circumstances. It was suspected to be a suicide.
The counting of votes is still underway for the bypoll election 2016 that happened in four Lok Sabha and nine Assembly seats and the results will soon be announced. Comprising of six states and one Union Territory where the elections held on Saturday, the bypoll election that was touted as the first test for the BJP government in the wake of its recent demonetisation drive, seems positive with BJP government witnessing remarkable victories in states like Madhya Pradesh and Arunachal Pradesh.
The recently held bypoll elections were conducted for three assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu, two in Tripura and one each in Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh and West Bengal and the union territory of Puducherry. As per a NDTV report, BJP Minister Ananth Kumar has recently said that BJP’s wins in the bypoll election shows that people are supporting the demonetisation move.
