After the Samajwadi party leader and cabinet minister for UP, Azam Khan called the mother-daughter gangrape in Bulandshahr a political conspiracy, the family of the victims said that they are extremely upset at the remarks of the minister, according to TV sources.

In a shocking statement, Azam Khan had called the brutal gangrape that took place in Bulandshahr a political conspiracy made by the opposition in an attempt to defame the government.

The statement comes in the backdrop of a brutal rape incident that took place on Friday night where a gang of dacoits brutally raped a woman and her daughter for half-an-hour on NH-91, when they were on their way to Shahjahanpur in UP.

The daughter’s father questioned Khan asking if he would say the same thing about his own family.

The centre had seeked an investigation report from the state government on the details of the entire incident and the necessary plan of action to capture the culprits. The family had earlier threatened to commit suicide if the dacoits are not punished.

Former Chief Minister Mayawati had earlier demanded Akhilesh Yadav’s resignation as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. BJP member Meenakshi Lekhi had also said that the Chief Minister should be held accountable for the incident.

The family was travelling from their Noida residence to Shahjahanpur when their car was hit with an iron rod that forced the driver to stop. A six-men gang took the driver on gunpoint and forced him to drive the car to an isolated area where they raped a 35-year-old woman and her 14-year-old daughter for three hours.

Former Delhi Chief Minister and Congress candidate for UP elections this year, Sheila Dikshit condemned the incident and held the law and order situation in the state responsible.
