Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) cracks down on illegal constructions

This step comes as a consequence of the flash floods in different parts of the city due to rains and the wrath faced by the Palike officials from the public and the CM Siddaramaiah.

In what can be regarded as the largest demolition drive undertaken by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) where in it pulled down 822 properties that are built illegaly on encroached land of Storm Water Drains (SWD).

These properties are among the 1923 identified by the Bangalore Urban District administration as encroaching on Raja Kaluves.

This step comes as a consequence of the flash floods in different parts of the city due to rains and the wrath faced by the Palike officials from the public and the CM Siddaramaiah.

The demolition of the these buildings has happeneed primarily on the orders of chief minister which were the main reason of flooding of the low lying areas.

Commissioner Manjunath Prasad in an interaction with the media said that action will be taken for the officials who ordered the town planning approvals for these illegal constructions.
