A girl in her 20s bravely foiled a snatching attempt by chasing down a man who ran away with her cell phone. The incident took place on Monday evening in north Delhi’s Lahori Gate area.
A girl in her 20s bravely foiled a snatching attempt by chasing down a man who ran away with her cell phone. The incident took place on Monday evening in north Delhi’s Lahori Gate area. The girl and her sister were returning after shopping when a man snatched the later’s phone. The girl who is a resident of Delhi’s Patel Nagar, said “My relatives and I had gone to Chandni Chowk for my elder sister Himani’s wedding shopping. While returning, my brother and his wife took his motorcycle, while my sister and I got into an autorickshaw,” as per The Indian Express.
She said that the incident took place around 8.30 pm. Due to traffic, she said, the rickshaw was moving at a slow pace. “When we reached near Novelty cinema a man snatched the cell phone from my sister, who was sitting next to me,” Kajal added. The girl said soon after the incident she started screaming but the man ran away. Kajal, in the meantime, jumped out of the moving vehicle and started chasing the man and eventually grabbed him. However, the man tried to wrestle back but was unsuccessful as her sister too came to her aid.
In another incident earlier in January this year, a brave girl hockey player in Delhi chased two miscreants and caught hold of one of them after they snatched her friend’s cell phone in a bus in west Delhi’s Punjabi Bagh area. Ritu Bhoraiya, who has represented Haryana and Delhi in national hockey tournaments, was going to Peeragarhi along with her two friends in a bus when the snatchers struck on January 20. All the three girls are students of Delhi University Shyama Prasad Mukherji college.
