Home Minister Rajnath Singh today is attending the newly constructed building of the National Security Guards (NSG) in Delhi. The Minister who came to inaugrate the new establishment heaped praise on the brave task force of the country.

Rajnath said, ‘NSG has created a special place in people’s hearts ever since its establishment, you have instilled a sense of faith among people.’ The National Security Guards also known as ‘Black Cat Commandoes’ have been involved in some of the major terrorist operations of India, most prominent ones being Operation Tornado in Mumbai to the recent Pathankot attacks in January.

Till now, the NSG base was only in Manesar, Gurgaon from where the commandoes were sent for any attacks that happened in the country. The force also is deployed as security to some of the most prominent politicians in India. The NSG has commandoes from paramilitary forces like ITBP, CISF, BSF and Indian Army being trained for combat missions.

Emphasising on the bravery of the Black Cats, Rajnath Singh said ‘Question is from where do NSG jawans get the courage to face extreme challenges? I believe it’s the sense of National Pride.’ Adding that ever since its inception in 1948, NSG has been making plaes in the hearts of Indians.

After the Mumbai attacks, it was decided by the Centre to set up 5 more hubs of NSG across India for swifter tackling of terrorist activities. The five centres being Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai and Gujarat.
