Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has expelled Dayashanker Singh, who made derogatory remarks against BSP chief Mayawati, from the party. Earlier during the day, BJP sacked him from all party posts.
BJP has come under fire from all sections after its Uttar Pradesh vice president Dayashanker Singh used derogatory language against Mayawati. The incident created ruckus in Parliament with opposition party leaders including Ghulam Nabi Azad, Derek O’Brien, Kumari Selja and Renuka Chowdhury condemning the use of foul language against the dalit leader and former UP chief minister.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said in Parliament that he is personally hurt by the remarks of the party member. “It is highly condemnable that a political leader uses such words against a prominent woman leaders. I regret the use of such words and will ensure that the matter is taken up by the concerned. I personally express regret to Mayawatiji. I associate our dignity with yours and stand with you,” said Arun Jaitley in Rajya Sabha.
Earlier, Mayawati said in Parliament that merely expression of regret will not suffice and if proper action was not taken against him, people will come out on streets and she will not be able to prevent it.

BSP filed an FIR against Singh in Lucknow later during the day.
“Mayawati is breaking the dream of Kanshi Ram into pieces. Mayawati is selling tickets like…,” said Dayashanker Singh.
“Mayawati gives tickets for Rs one crore and if there is someone who can give Rs 2 crore than she sells it for Rs 2 crore within an hour. If someone is ready to give Rs 3 crore by the evening, she gives the ticket to him,” Singh alleged.
After Singh’s statement caused havoc within and outside the party, UP BJP President Keshav Prasad Maurya informed that Dayashanker Singh has been relieved of all posts and said “such language has no place in the party”.
