Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has hit out at claims that he has sent out a strong message to Congress president Sonia Gandhi by skipping today’s lunch cum meeting of Opposition parties, but agreeing to attend a lunch invitation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi tomorrow. Calling the report as “misinterpretation”, the Bihar Chief Minister said he had already met Sonia Gandhi and that it was already announced that Sharad Yadav would attend the meeting organised to discuss the prospect of naming a joint Opposition candidate for upcoming presidential elections.
“Had already met Sonia ji, it was announced 4-5 days back that Sharad ji would represent JDU. Everything else is misinterpretation”, Bihar CM was quoted as saying by ANI.
The chief minister further said he will attend the lunch as he was invited in honour of the visiting of Mauritius Prime Minister. “I will attend lunch which will be organised in honour of Mauritius Prime Minister tomorrow, as I have been invited”, he was quoted as saying by the agency.
“After the lunch, I will meet PM Modi regarding the issue of national policy on desiltation of Ganga, will speak to him”, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar was quoted as saying by ANI further.
Earlier, a Times Now report claimed that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar sent out a huge message to the Opposition by skipping lunch cum meeting of Sonia Gandhi and deciding to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at later’s residence tomorrow.

JD(U) leader Ajay Alok, also claimed that this would be an official meeting. His party colleague Pawan K Verma , while speaking to Times Now, also said that as far as lunch given by the Congress president, it was already decided a few days back that Sharad Yadav would attend the lunch. But, If this meeting does take place, it will be a huge blow for Gandhi and other Opposition leaders who are planning to come together to fight off Narendra Modi and BJP’s surge in India, the channel had claimed.
