Delhi University Students’ Union office bearer and joint secretary Uma Shankar has failed to clear his first semester exams. This could mean that Shankar might possibly face an elimination from the student leadership role. The results of the first semester were announced on Sunday evening and they showed that Uma, a student Motilal Nehru College (morning) who was pursuing BA (Hons) in Sanskrit did not appear for any of his subjects, as per India Today report. Shankar who represents ABVP had failed to pass any subject in the first semester held in November-December 2017. His report card shows him as an absentee. Uma has opted for Hindi Cinema, Classical Sanskrit Literature, Critical Survey of Sanskrit Literature and Environmental Science.
DUSU office-bearers have stressed on the point that earlier the secretary of Delhi University’s students’ union, Mahamedha Naagar was detained on the grounds of short attendance. “Her detention makes it de facto to get her enrollment as a student cancelled as per rules. Uma’s results show negligence on his part as a student who did not appear for his exams,” said NSUI state president, Akshay Lakra, the report added. The students’ union office has also observed that Uma is not deemed fit to be an office-bearer even though he will be considered as an ex-DU student.
