Dr. P.D. Garg, the psychiatrist who examined 1993 Delhi blast accused Devender Pal Singh Bhullar, on Friday said that the latter is suffering from high blood pressure and severe depression, adding that his discharge will depend upon the outcome of his treatment.
“He is suffering from high blood pressure and severe depression. I have done a detailed examination. We will coordinate with other departments as well, like the medicine and cardiology departments. We will do our best for him,” Dr. Garg told the media here.
“Discharge will depend upon the outcome of treatment. It can take two weeks to four weeks. He is telling his name and communicating, but his energy level is really low. We will try to help him to come out of the depression. Till the time of treatment, he will be here,” he added.
Earlier in the day, Bhullar was shifted to Amritsar Central Jail from Delhi’s Tihar Jail after being brought by road from the national capital.
Bhullar first underwent a medical checkup at Swami Dayanand Hospital in Delhi before being brought to Punjab.
After reaching the Central Jail in Amritsar, he was immediately referred to Government Guru Nanak Dev Hospital to undergo fresh medical examination besides a check-up at the hospital’s Psychiatric ward.
