In a tragic incident, a 32-year-old man fell to his death from a bridge at Chennai airport early on Monday (January 29). He has been identified as Chaitanya Vuyuru from Andhra Pradesh’s Vijayawada. As per a Times of India report, the police said that Vuyuru came to the airport to board a flight. The CCTV footage showed him talking on the phone while attempting to sit on the wall of the bridge near airport’s gate number 4 before falling from there. Reportedly, Vuyuru, a techie, was employed at an IT company in Bengaluru. As per the report, Vuyuru had suffered multiple fractures on his skull and succumbed to his injuries.
Witnesses too told the police that Chaitanya had been sitting on the railing of the flyover and had fallen off from there. Prima facie, it seems to be an accident, however, the police is also probing the incident to ascertain whether it was a case of suicide. His death doesn’t seem to the police as a crystal clear case of an accident as he was not carrying any bag and he didn’t have any air ticket. His iPhone got completely damaged in the accident and his other phone too started to malfunction due to the fall. Assuch, no e-ticket has been found with him as yet.
The police have recovered an identity card from him and contacted his father, Janardhana Rao. The family of the deceased is rushing to Chennai. The police still don’t know the exact reason behind Vuyuru’s Chennai visit. The airport police have registered a case under Section 174 (unnatural death) of the CrPC and the investigation of the accident is underway.
The reason why he went to the Chennai airport will go a long way in clearing the circumstances leading to his death. Cops are even probing a surmise that the techie may have been trying to take a selfie and somehow lost control.
