The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has sought a report from GoFirst airline over a January 9 incident where it allegedly “forgot” to board 50 passengers on its Delhi-bound flight from Bengaluru, reports news agency ANI.
The incident occurred on January 9 when GoFirst Airways flight G8 116 from Bengaluru to Delhi took off at around 6.30 AM, leaving more than 50 passengers in a bus on the tarmac.
According to the report, 53 out of 55 passengers were shifted to another airline for Delhi and onward, while the remaining two were given a refund as per the passengers’ demand.
Aggrieved passengers then took to Twitter to register their protest against the incident and also tagged Civil Aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and the Prime Minister’s Office.
Responding to the tweets, GoFirst Airways said, “We regret the inconvenience caused.” The airline, however, is yet to put out a detailed statement on the incident.
The passengers were reportedly accommodated on a flight that left for Delhi at around 10 am. A media report quoted a DGCA official as saying that the watchdog has sought a report from the airline and appropriate action shall be taken.
