Karnataka has been facing the lash of the feud over Cauvery water issue. While the matter gained momentum last week, Monday saw things intensifying as pro-Kannada activists burnt down buses, shops and vehicles. The capital city has been observing a bandh keeping in view the turbulent times.
As the south India reels under the fury, a known face has come forward to inhale some common sense in the citizens of both the states. RJ Balaji, a household name in Chennai, thanks to his show like Cross Talk posted a video appealing for peace.
The video was posted by Balaji on his facebook page and has been viewed 1M times already within less than 24 hours. The RJ is seen speaking in Tamil. In the video, Balaji has asked people to let their better sense prevail and not get carried away by the ruckus being created by others.

Balaji asked his fans to be sensible Indians and sensible human beings. He reminisced the Chennai floods and how both the states had contributed to bring things back to normalcy. ‘That’s what ordinary people’ hearts are like’, Balaji added.
He said, ‘The people in Karnataka who set KPN buses on fire weren’t ordinary people like you and me. The people in Chennai who vandalized the Woodlands hotel weren’t people like you and me. Those who did all this are people who hope that this issue will never be put to rest, that this problem will become bigger. They wish to use language for political gain, and for profit.’
Before the video, the famous RJ had also posted a message on the same line:
Balaji indicated political mileage being the prominent reason for such acts by the people and asked the governments of both the states to intervene and arrest such ‘madmen’.
