Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Ram Chander who is a resident of the Shahbad Dairy won the Bawana bypoll because of his ” connect with the residents”, claims the successful party leader. Chander says the influence of the BJP government has stopped since people have come to realize that it was making false promises. AAP candidate Ram Chander’s first brush with politics was in 2008 when he entered politics as a BSP candidate. Chander fought in 2008 on a BSP ticket and lost the battle and later joined the India Against Corruption movement and wanted an AAP ticket in the 2015 assembly polls. AAP, on the other hand, decided to give the chance to Ved Prakash.
In an interview to Indian Express, Ram Chander said that he joined AAP during its 49-day government in the year 2013. He says, that his arrival in Bawana from Lucknow was in 1984 after which he started living in Shahbad village. Talking about the party’s strategy, Chander says that the leaders work hard and the people are happy with the kind of performance the Kejriwal has done. Chander further said, ” ‘Modi magic’ has stopped working and our strategy was centered around development. Most people here belong to the economically weaker sections.”
