After the school administration in Bareilly gave haircuts to nearly 100 students, their angry parents staged a protest. They alleged the children were punished since they had refused to take private tuitions from teachers of the school. However, School authorities claimed the step was taken as students’ hair was unkempt.
On Saturday, there was uproar at the school as parents stressed that since the students’ hair had been cut in a haphazard manner, many of them had to get their remaining hair shaved to be presentable.
Students alleged that a teacher forcibly cut the hair of class IX to XII students in the presence of the school principal on Friday. Pranjal Gupta, a student of class XI told TOI that on teachers instructions he and other students had cut their hair before Friday, but the teacher cut the hair forcibly of thise students who did not take tuition
Seconding him, his classmate Vansh Saxena added they had cut students’ hair in a haphazard way forcing him to shave the rest of it. They also gave the hair that were cut off into students hands, which is done to Hindu men or boys when their fathers die, he said.
The students further said that school authorities also did not allow them to wear a cap or drape a scarf on their heads after their hair cut.
