Have you ever seen Baba Ramdev playing football. If your answer is no, then you must see him displaying his skill on the ground. Famous for his Yoga and outspoken political viewpoint, Baba Ramdev took one more step ahead to promote fitness and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s two pet projects on Sunday when he made guest appearance during the charity football match played between the Members of Parliament and Bollywood actors at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi. Baba Ramdev joined the programme to promote Modi government’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao mission. When asked, whom do he support on this match, he gave a political answer by saying that he supports both the teams.

“I support both the politicians and the actors,” he said. The charity match was organised by Bollywood actor Priyanka Kothari’s Adhunik Art Gallery and was inaugurated by Baba Ramdev. Clad in saffron ‘dhoti’ and saffron shoes, Baba Ramdev tried to score a goal a few times but remained unsuccessful. At one instance, Baba Ramdev is spotted laughing after kicking the ball. Reports said that though Baba Ramdev did not made any donation, but provided drinks and snacks to the participants. The MPs team was led by Babul Supriyo who is Minister of State for Heavy Industries in Modi government while the Bollywood team was led by Abhishek Bachchan.

“India has been a winner in all sorts of games other than football. It is time India should learn to win football matches as well. At a time when the country’s youth is inclining towards drug abuse, football might play a roll in deviating their minds to sportsmanship. Since football is a power game, it will keep players in good health and cherished spirits,” said Baba Ramdev.

The MPs team has members including Manoj Tewari, Pravesh Verma, Kamlesh Paswan, Satish Gautam, Bhola Singh and Prasun Banerjee  while Bollywood team saw participation from stars like Ranbir Kapoor, Dino Morea and Shabbir Ahluwalia.

Earlier this month, government named Baba Ramdev as the brand ambassador of the event. The event also aims at promoting football in India as the country is all set to host U-17 FIFA World Cup next year.
