Panic gripped the Azadpur Metro Station when a CISF officer opened fired in the air after some people manhandled security personnel following a scuffle between two groups. The incident took place at 8:20 pm on Monday, according to PTI. According to the CISF officer, around 20 people reached the station following a quarrel between two passengers. The two persons, one of them a minor, engaged in an argument at the ticket counter, the officials said.
The CISF personnel deployed at the station took the two persons to the control room and asked them to pay a fine following the quarrel. But the minor, a resident of Wazirpur industrial area, called his friends and family members. Nearly 20 people barged into the station and attacked Delhi Police constable M L Meena, who was taking the two to the Kashmere Gate police station, the report said. Officials said the miscreants grabbed the collar of CISF Assistant Sub- Inspector Mohammed Umar, which forced him to fire in the air to control the crowd. However, no one was hurt in the firing.

DCP (Metro) Pankaj Singh said a team from the Kashmere Gate Metro police station, under which Azadpur station falls, soon reached the station and detained six people, as per The Times of India. An FIR has been registered for preventing a public servant from conducting his duties and assaulting a public servant on duty. Senior officials of the CISF and the Delhi Police said they were also examining the CCTV video of the incident.
