The Central Bureau of investigation (CBI) on Monday arrested Principal Secretary to Delhi Chief Minister, Rajendra Kumar and 4 others in a corruption case. Speaking on the development, Satish Upadhyay, BJP’s Delhi unit chief said Arvind Kejriwal needs to answer the people about corruption charges against his principal secretary.
Kiran Walia of Congress said, “One would really like to know what has been probed & what has really happened.”
CBI sources said that Kumar has been charged with abusing his official position to award contracts to M/s Endeavour Systems Pvt. Ltd. and securing government tenders worth Rs. 9.5 crore between 2007 and 2014 for the company.
The CBI said that Kumar has been booked under Section 120-B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act. It said that the arrested official and four others would be produced before the Patiala House Court on Tuesday.
The CBI had in December last year raided Kumar’s office at the Delhi Secretariat in connection with this case.
