The Aam Aadmi Party today took on BJP for its front page advertisement in various newspapers listing the achievements of the Narendra Modi government and asking people to vote for it in the Assembly polls tomorrow, saying it is violation of the Model Code of Conduct.

“Today Delhi has seen that every paper has a front page advertisement given by BJP. In my opinion this is clear-cut violation of the EC guidelines and the Model Code of Conduct,” AAP leader Ashutosh told reporters.

“My question is that if such ads are not allowed on TV after the campaigning process has ended, why should they be allowed in newspapers? The law should change. If widely circulated papers carry such ads then it will certainly influence minds of people,” he said.

“From where BJP gets money to give front page AD in every newspaper. These ADs are most expensive and costly,” he said in a tweet.

“Every paper in Delhi is carrying front page BJP AD. What is the source of money ? AAP’s fight is Ag money power,” said Ashutosh in another tweet.

Ashutosh also took to Twitter to question BJP’s source of funding behind these advertisements:

Responding to the allegations, BJP spokesperson GVL Narsimha said, “AAP’s claim that the advertisement is violation of poll code, I believe is ignorance from their side. Either they do not know about the law or Model Code of Conduct or they are making such statements deliberately to remain in news.”

“The ad just talks about the positive agenda of BJP which the party wants the public to know. There is no violation of any kind. Such ads can be given till the day of polling,” he added.

Senior Congress leader Manish Tewari also slammed the advertisement saying, “It is very evident that the PM seems to be very keen to demote himself from PM to CM, otherwise why would they give these fanciful ads recounting all the non-work done by the BJP government in the last eight months.”

“One one hand you say that Delhi elections are not a referendum on the performance of the central government and on other hand you come up with an advertisement which lists out the imaginary work done by the government. The ad makes you wonder whether PM Modi has decided to voluntarily demote himself to the Chief Ministership of Delhi,” he told reporters.

He, however, said that it is for the Election Commission to decide whether the advertisement has violated the code of conduct or not.

“There is no bar on political parties giving advertisements during elections but recounting achievements of Central government when the model code is in force may not be technically a violation but in essence it is because eventually you are trying to have an impact on voters,” he said.

Respected leaders of BJP, I have been closing watching almost all TV channels on Delhi election. It appears that, you all have great qualities, but most important quality that is, commitment to eradicate corruption(which is the root cause of all our problems) from India, is missing in all your speeches and views. The only committed party to fight against corruption and to make India free from corruption, is Mr.Kejriwal and AAP. Since 1947, you all have been doing your best for the country, but what is the result? We are still a poor and under developed country. Why? because the root cause of all problems that is corruption, could not be eradicated from India. On the contrary an, which also striated its journey of progress along with India since 1947 after having been destro badly in 2nd world war, has gone far ahead than India and has even beeten the world in many areas. Why? because an has eliminated corruption. The other day, I heard the speech of PM delivered in Delhi, where- in, he quoted an example; If someone inflate a Tyre of a bicycle and one of the portion of the tube gets bigger like a balloon, then will it be called around development? Obviously not. I ask, if the there is a puncture in the tube, can any one even think to get an inflated Tyre? not at all. Same things happened and are happening in India where, all the fruits of the progresses made, have been eaten away by few corrupt persons. Hence, PM's views to make efforts to achieve all round developments, without a commitment to eradicate corruption, is meaning less. PM is fully aware that there are still many tainted/charge sheet-ed/corrupt leaders in BJP. But I wonder as to why in last 8 months, he has not taken any action to expel a single corrupt leader from BJP? Rather many corrupt candidates have been govern BJP's ticket to contest elections. Why? It is also surprising and shocking that, the janlokpal bill, which was duly approved by both the houses and signed by the President one year ago, has not been implemented. Why? Why PM has not bothered to respond to any of the 3 letters sent to him by Annaji? Are All these lapses, not a clear indicator that, BJP is not at all serious to eradicate corruption from India? In last one month, I have been seeing a negative politics by BJP. Abusive language and words are being used by BJP against AAP. What kind of democracy and leadership we are headed for? Is it what we have learnt from our fore leaders and old generations? Where our core values to be a spiritual leader of the world have gone? If there is a need to bring code of conduct and law on this, please do issue. Someone has very rightly said: "Its nice to be important, but ts more important to be nice." Please pay due attention to this saying. Please do something, on which we feel proud of you, irrespective of the result of any election. We need to have a democracy and the leaders, which the world appreciates, irrespective who governs the country.
