Shah commenced the media brief by saying that the surgical strikes conducted by the Indian Army are being questioned by many party leaders. Their question is not a simple one. They are demeaning Army's success and politicising the entire issue, said Shah.
Soon after Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for playing politics over the sacrifice of soldiers while terming it as “khoon ki dalali,” Opposition leaders trained their guns against him. In the same reference, BJP chief Amit Shah on Friday held a press conference condemning the remarks of the Gandhi scion and that of AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal.
Shah commenced the media brief by saying that the surgical strikes conducted by the Indian Army are being questioned by many party leaders. Their question is not a simple one. They are demeaning Army’s success and politicising the entire issue, said Shah.
“We tried our best to keep the surgical strikes away from politics. However, it was Mr. Kejriwal who initiated this “proof-demand,” following which other political parties started asking for the same,” said the BJP Chief.
After Kejriwal asked for the evidence, #KejriwalSupportsPakistan started trending in the neighbouring country, added Shah.
Talking about the recent remarks of the Congress Vice President, Shah asked whether it was appropriate to use the term “dalali” for the Indian Army. He added that if the Congress believes that BJP is politicising the issue of surgical strikes, then they should go back to Indo-Pakistan 1971 war and recall how their party has used the Armed forces to engineer various scams.
“By using words such as “dalali” for the Indian Army, Rahul has insulted the nation and the efforts put in by our soldiers. We are here to support our Army and we are doing all that we can. But when remarks like these come forth, it is not the BJP who is politicising the issue but the Congress.”
Shah further asked, “Who are you doubting? Are you doubting the intentions and actions of soldiers? This politicising is condemnable.”
The party chief reiterated that BJP believes in the Indian army and not “dalali.”
Rahul Gandhi on Thursday accused PM Modi of indulging in political exploitation of the sacrifices of soldiers in remarks that come in the wake of cross-LoC surgical strikes on terror launch pads in PoK.
“Jo hamare jawan hain jinhone apna khoon diya hai, Jammu and Kashmir mein khoon diya hai, jinhone Hindustan ke liye surgical strike kiye hain, unke khoon ke peeche aap chhupe hain. Unki aap dalali kar rahe ho. Yeh bilkul galat hai. (You (Modi) are hiding behind the blood of soldiers in Jammu and Kashmir and those who carried out the surgical strikes for India. You are exploiting their sacrifices, which is very wrong),” he said.
