Attacking the Central Government over the ‘horrific’ Anand Parbat stabbing case, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi should either set the law and order situation in the capital right or hand over the city police to the AAP Government.
“The Delhi Police comes under Prime Minister. Either Prime Minister should give time to improve law and order situation of Delhi or he should hand over Delhi Police to us, and we will set things straight,” Kejriwal said after meeting the family of the teenage girl who was brutally stabbed to death in the capital’s Anand Parbat locality.
“This incident is very horrifying. She was stabbed multiple times, because she resisted teasing. One day those boys killed the girl,” he added.
The Chief Minister further stated that he will summon Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi over the matter.
“We have ordered a Magisterial Inquiry into this, Delhi’s law minister has asked for a report from Delhi Police on this issue. I will summon the Delhi Police Commissioner on Monday,” said Kejriwal.
“If the Delhi Police is not answerable to the elected representatives, then how will the law and order work?” he added.
The Delhi Government has meanwhile announced a compensatory amount of Rs. 5 lakh to the 19-year-old girl’s family.
