Nikhil Nanda, Chairman and Managing Director of Escorts Kubota, along with several other company executives, has been implicated in a serious legal case involving allegations of fraud and abetment to suicide, according to a News18 report. The case, filed by the Dataganj Police in Badaun district, Uttar Pradesh, was registered following a court order.

Nikhil Nanda, married to Amitabh Bachchan’s daughter Shweta Nanda, is the grandson of Raj Kapoor and cousin to Bollywood stars Kareena Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor

The case alleges that Nikhil Nanda, along with his team—including Ashish Baliyan (area manager), Sumit Raghav (sales manager), Dinesh Pant (UP head), Pankaj Bhaskar (financier collection officer), Amit Pant (sales manager), Neeraj Mehra (sales head), and Shishant Gupta (dealer from Shahjahanpur)—pressured Jitendra Singh, a tractor dealer, to meet unrealistic sales targets. Singh’s brother, Gyanendra, filed the complaint, claiming the intense pressure caused significant distress to Jitendra.

Jitendra Singh had managed the Jai Kisan Traders agency in Dataganj on his own after his business partner, Lalla Babu, was imprisoned due to a family dispute. Gyanendra alleges that the accused repeatedly threatened Jitendra with revoking his dealership license and auctioning his property if targets were not met. On November 21, 2024, company officials reportedly visited Jitendra again to pressure him about sales, and the following day, Jitendra tragically took his own life.

Escorts Kubota Releases Official Statement

In response, Escorts Kubota issued an official statement, confirming their cooperation with authorities while rejecting the allegations against senior officials. The company called the claims “unfounded” and stated that the FIR had been “influenced by factors unrelated to the incident,” adding that they were committed to ensuring that the facts are properly established.

“Such allegations are unfounded and the company is keen to ensure that the proper facts are ascertained”, the official statement read.
