Amitabh Bachchan appointed as the Tiger ambassador of Maharashtra

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan on Tuesday was appointed as ambassador for Maharashtra’s ‘Save the Tiger’ campaign.

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan on Tuesday was appointed as ambassador for Maharashtra’s ‘Save the Tiger’ campaign.

Maharashtra Forest Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar said that the Bollywood icon had sent a formal letter to the state government on Monday, accepting their proposal and invite.

“I want to thank Maharashtra government for appointing me as the ambassador for ‘Save Tigers’,” said Bachchan.

As per as 2104 census, Maharashtra, with six tiger reserves, has 190 tigers. The state has recorded a steady rise in tiger population from 103 in 2006 to 169 in 2010 and 190 in 2014, as reported in the Tiger Estimation conducted every four years.
