Bharatiya Janta Party Chief Amit Shah, while speaking to media in Kolkata, West Bengal congratulated BJP on the thumping win in MCD elections in Delhi. He said that the result in Delhi is another push in BJP’s victory march. He also took a dig at Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and the AAP government. Shah said that the results show that it is an end of politics of negativity. He added that BJP’s welfare politics of ‘sabka saath’ has won over the politics of blame game and excuses. Shah also thanked the people of Delhi for showing faith in BJP and said that the results are like a stamp of approval on the three years of work done by PM Narendra Modi in the country. Shah also congratulated Manoj Tiwari and other party workers in Delhi.

Meanwhile, Delhi Congress President Ajay Maken has reportedly resigned after taking responsibility for the defeat. According to the latest trends in MCD election results, Delhi appears to have rejected the Aam Aadmi Party and Arvind Kejriwal’s brand of politics. Additionally, AAP leaders have come out to blame the EVMs for the election results. AAP leader Ashutosh, while talking to reporters, has questioned the use of EVMs in the MCD elections 2017. He claimed that BJP has not done anything in the last 10 years, and he wondered why would the people vote for it. Manish Sisodia in a press conference said that the Delhi verdict is unbelievable. Meanwhile, Nitin Gadkari bashed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by saying he should concentrate on development instead of EVM machines. BJP Delhi unit chief Manoj Tiwari gives credit to Narendra Modi’s vision and hard work of party workers.

Currently, BJP leads in all the 3 municipal corporations in Delhi, three days after voting took place in 270 wards across the three civic bodies – North Delhi Municipal Corporation, South Delhi Municipal Corporation and the East Delhi Municipal Corporation.

The MCD elections were held on April 23 which saw a voter turnout of almost 53.58 per cent, marginally higher than the 2012 elections.
