Earlier on Friday, Singh had alleged that the action has been perpetrated by Jaitley, after he challenged hin to fight elections from Amritsar. “I challenged @arunjaitley to fight by-elections in Amritsar and this is how he responds. Amarinder, who is leading Congress in the state, on Thursday openly challenged Jaitley to contest Lok Sabha by-election from Amritsar while criticizing the demonetisation move of the Centre.
It may be mentioned here that in the 2014 general election, Jaitley had lost from the Amritsar Lok Sabha seat to Amarinder Singh by nearly 90,000 votes. Amarinder recently resigned from his Lok Sabha membership in protest against the Supreme Court order on the Sutlej Yamuna Link canal issue.
Now he will be leading Punjab Congress in the upcoming state assembly elections and is looking to become chief minister for the second time.
