Newly inducted SP leader Amar Singh today threatened to resign, claiming humiliation by party's top leaders.
Intra-party conflict in the Samajwadi Party has come to the fore once again. Newly inducted SP leader Amar Singh today threatened to resign, claiming humiliation by party’s top leaders. Not only him, the MP said, other leaders like Balram Yadav and Shivpal Yadav were also being humiliated. Aajtak TV reported Singh as saying that he was being humiliated in lieu of the Rajya Sabha seat offered to him by the party.
Singh told the channel that he would not submit his resignation to any party leader, but to Rajya Sabha chairperson and Vice-President Hamid Ansari. Singh alleged that UP CM Akhilesh Yadav refuses to take his calls and the party’s Rajya Sabha MPs are not allowed to say anything. “They have been turned into deaf and dumb,” he said. Claiming himself to be “Mulayamwadi”, Singh said that he would take a final decision on resignation after talking to party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav. Singh further alleged that even party leader Jaya Prada was not being treated properly in the party.
Earlier this month, the party was in the news after state’s cabinet minister and Akhilesh’s uncle Shivpal threatened to resign, claiming that weaker sections of the society were being oppressed by the SP government and public officials, while land grabbing was on across the state. He had also alleged that middle-men were ruling over police stations and tehsils.
Concerned over Shivpal’s threat, Mulayam had trolled Akhilesh publicly. Mulayam had said some members of the party were conspiring against Shivpal and it would be a big problem for the party if he leaves.
