Amar Singh on Tuesday was reported to be the next National General Secretary of Samajwadi Party. The Samajwadi Party has been constantly in the media due to the reports of a major rivalry between the camps of Shivpal Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav. Moreover, Akhilesh Yadav had reportedly called Amar Singh an outsider while talking about the interference in the affairs of the Samajwadi party.
Mulayam Singh wrote a letter to Amar Singh in which he addressed his choice of appointing Amar as the party’s National general Secretary. In the letter, he hoped that Amar Singh would strengthen the Samajwadi Party in UP for the upcoming elections. Though the part’s top leadership was strongly opposing the appointment of Amar Singh, after Cm Akhilesh Yadav’s taunt of calling him an “outsider”, Mulayam seems to have complete confidence in him as he first made him a Rajya Sabha member and then appointing him as the General Secretary.
Earlier on September 11, Amar Singh had hosted a party with the biggest invites being Mulayam Singh Yadav and his brother Shivpal Yadav. When Shivpal replaced Akhilesh as the Samajwadi Party’s state unit chief, the rival camp of the CM had accused Amar Singh of having influenced Mulayam Yadav. Amar Singh’s discomfort about the new growing leadership in the party was clearly seen when he had issued a statement saying that the people close to Mulayam had been insulted by the rival camp. Amar had complained that he was being made to sit on the back benches in the Rajya Sabha.
