Akshay Kumar picks up broom for Yogi Adityanath, here is why

Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar‏ today met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow and took part in the state government's cleanliness drive event.

Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar‏ today met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow and took part in the state government’s cleanliness drive event. Kumar took to Twitter to express his gratitude. The ‘Airlift’ actor said that he was honoured to be part of the campaign. He was also seen wielding broom with the CM. Adityanath has time to time pitched for making UP clean. In May, he had picked broom to set an example. Adityanath had earlier said that by December 2017, the government was aiming to declare 30 districts and by October 2018 the entire state open defecation-free. Meanwhile, Kumar is in Lucknow to promote his next film ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ which will be released on August 11.

The film is based on the Swachch Bharat Abhiyaan initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. When the film’s trailer came out, PM Modi had praised it and called the movie a commendable effort to promote cleanliness. Kumar had said that he would love to hold a special screening for Modi.
