Bedi had gone out on an 'incognito' ride on a two-wheeler.
Puducherry LG Kiran Bedi on Sunday replied to the people who raised questions over her helmetless ‘incognito’ ride to check-safety measures in her Union Territory. Bedi termed not wearing the helmet as a ‘careful choice’. “Not wearing helmet was a careful choice. Both wanted to appear vulnerable & wanted to see how we women driving a scooty at nite r looked at, (sic)” Bedi said. In a bid to check safety measures, Bedi had gone out on an ‘incognito’ ride on a two-wheeler. After her visit, Bedi even declared that she found her territory safe for women “even at night”.
“Just back from a night round. Went pillion riding on a scooter camouflaged. Felt Pondicherry safe for women, even at night. Shall repeat..,” she said in her Tweet. “Found Puducherry reasonably safe at night. But will be improved,” she further said. The former top cop tweeted that she would suggest a few measures which the police need to take to enhance security and that people should connect with PCR/100 to voice their concerns.
Bedi also posted pictures of her scooter and bicycle ride and captioned it as, “From a midnight Incognito #Suraksha Round to the 6 AM weekend #Swachh Round…” However, Bedi, known for her zero-tolerance attitude towards crime, faced some serious questions from Twitterati, as neither she nor the rider, were wearing a helmet. “Good job. But where is helmet?” Shweta Bhat, a Twitter user asked Bedi.
Here’s what Bedi Tweeted:

If Ruling people doesn’t follow the safety,” Deepak Kannan, another Twitter user, posted. Bedi is well known for her initiatives to promote women’s safety.
