In a recent development on Bollywood Actress Jiah Khan’s death case, a Mumbai court today framed charges against Sooraj Pancholi under IPC 306 (abetment of suicide) reports ANI. As per a report from Hindustan Times, the charges were framed by judge K D Shirbhate against Sooraj who is the son of famous Bollywood actor Aditya Pancholi. The charges were framed under section 306 (abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code, to which he pleaded not guilty, added the report. His lawyer Prashant Patil said, “Sooraj pleaded innocence and the examination of witnesses will start from February 14.”
As per the charge sheet, Jiah Khan was found hanging at her residence on June 3, 2013, by her mother Rabiya. On the morning of the day she died, she left the house of Sooraj Pancholi, where she had been staying for the last two days.
According to the report, CBI said that Sooraj had “hidden facts and fabricated information” during questioning. He also refused to undergo polygraph or brain-mapping tests which the investigative agency wanted to conduct to know about his alleged role in the incident. The report also said that CBI has informed about a three-page note seized by the Mumbai Police, which earlier probed the case, on June 10, 2013. The note as per CBI was written by Jia Khan and it narrated her “intimate relationship, physical abuse and mental and physical torture” allegedly at the hands of Sooraj Pancholi which led her to commit suicide.
