Kannada actor turned politican Divya Spandana aka Ramya has managed to create quite a stir on social media with her comment that ‘Pakistan is not hell’. The remark apparently came after Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar’s statement that ‘going to Pakistan is like going to hell’.

The actress who is seen in Kannada, Tamil and telugu films was recently in Islamabad to attend SAARC Young Parliamentarians Conference. And reacting on Parrikar’s stance, she had said ‘Pakistan is not hell. People are just like us. They treated us very well”.

Ramya today said, ‘Its really sad,but such is situation in the country today.’ Talking of freedom of expression, the ex-Congress MP said that everybody is entitled to their views and that is what democracy is about, you can’t force your ideology on anyone.

Taking a stab at politicians, she said, ‘Politicians want to polarise and spread hatred. Just because borders separate us we shouldn’t hate others. Don’t think I’m wrong. I also love Bangladesh, Sri Lanka. Of course I won’t leave India, it’s my home & I am not going to leave my dogs. We talk of terrorism across the border, let’s not forget what we do to our own fellow men’.

Adding to it on the apology, Ramya said, ‘I don’t have ego at all & in any given incident, I would’ve apologised, but if I do in this case, the larger cause we’re fighting for would go.’

The actress has been on the recieving end of staunch criticism with people burning up her posters and slamming her online. However, the actress has been taking the trolling in her stride. She has refused to put her foot down and apologise for the statement.

Divya Spandana rather finds her trolls ‘amusing’, she said. ‘The media ofcourse makes it all the more interesting’, is what Ramya replied to a tweet. Ever since, she has been on a retweeting spree to support her point.

With the surmounting tension between Indo-Pak and the failed dialogue at SAARC in Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s presence,Ramya’s remark has only added up the fuel. The unbashed actress who joined politics in 2011 might be booked under sedition charges as Advocate K. Vittal Gowda has filed Section 200 of the Cr. Pc in the first JMFC court in Somwarpet on Monday alleging ehr of ‘insulting India and appreciating Pakistan, which is a trditional enemy of India’.
