Aam Aadmi Party minister in Delhi for Woman and Child development, Sandeep Kumar surrendered before the Deputy Commissioner of Police in Rohini on Saturday, following a complaint lodged by the woman with whom he was found in an ‘objectionable’ video. The minister who has been mired in the controversy regarding a sex scandal was earlier on Saturday was suspended from the Aam Aadmi Party. Later the woman in the video, filed a complaint against him at the police station alleging that Kumar had given her drugs mixed with a drink and lured her. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had earlier this week had sacked the minister from his post.
The woman has been taken for medical investigation while Kumar has been booked under rape charges by the Delhi Police under Section 376. Calling the charges as a conspiracy, Sandeep Kumar had earlier denied the allegations and maintained that he was not the man in the video that has been circulated. He also alleged that he has been ‘framed’ and targetted as he belongs to the Dalit community. BJP cornered AAP leader Ashutosh as he defended Sandeep in his blog citing ‘consensual sex’ as the reason.
