AAP MLA Naresh Yadav, booked for the Malerkotla sacrilege incident on June 24, appeared before Punjab Police chief at IG office after he was summoned for questioning.
In the sacrilege of a religious book in Malerkotla, Naresh Yadav came into picture after the accused claimed that he had acted at the behest of Naresh Yadav and he is the “abettor of the crime”
He was booked under various sections of the IPC including 109 (punishment of abetment if the act abetted is committed in consequence and where no express provision is made for its punishment), 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth etc. and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony) and 295 (injury or defiling place of worship with an intent to insult the religion of any class)

“We are investigating the matter. When we collect strong evidence against him (Yadav), we will seek warrant from the court and then, we will arrest him,” Sangrur SSP Prithpal Singh Thind had said earlier.
