Aam Admi Party MLA Amanatullah Khan who was sent to custody for allegedly threatening a woman, has been granted bail by Delhi court in the case. Complainant Vimal Ahuja had filed a case against him alleging that one of the legislator’s supporters present at his residence in South Delhi’s Batla House, had misbehaved with her and threatened her of harmful consequences.
Amanatullah Khan is MLA from Okhla constituency in Delhi assembly. AAP cried foul and said that the woman was ‘pressurised’ to record a false statement. The party also released a footage involving the woman, where she was heard saying that the police asked her to add “threats of raping and killing her” in the complaint.
In her complaint, Ahuja stated she went to MLA’s residence after Khan gave a very casual response to her complaint. A case was registered under Sections 509 (Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Khan at the Jamia Nagar Police Station on July 19.
“Just in – Modi ji arrests one more AAP MLA” Kejriwal had Tweeted after Khan’s arrest.
Khan’s arrest was fourth against an AAP MLA since June.
