Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Satish Upadhyay on Tuesday said the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Government in Delhi should corporate with the police over the arrest of Law Minister Jitendra Tomar in connection with the fake degree certificate row, as nobody is above the law.
“He talks about transparency and honesty so he should let the law take its course. The government should corporate with the police, as nobody is above the law. He hasn’t been arrested for nothing. The police must have investigated thoroughly before arresting him. By accusing the government of attempting to suppress their voice will get them nowhere. It is their habit to blame the government,” said Upadhyay.
Tomar has been taken to Hauz Khas Police station for questioning after getting arrested in connection with the fake degree row.
Reacting sharply to Tomar’s arrest, AAP leader Sanjay Singh said that the law minister has been arrested without any notice or prior information.
Singh also took a jibe at the Central Government, saying that the party would not let them suppress their voice.
Earlier, Tomar had claimed to have completed his law education from Bihar’s Tilak Manjhi Bhagalpur University, while filing his nomination for the Delhi Assembly polls this year.
The University authorities claimed that the serial number of the provisional certificate mentioned in the University record is registered on some other person’s name and not of Tomar’s.
According to reports, Tomar has also been accused of producing fake certificate of his graduation studies in science from Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University (UP)
