Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s noble initiative called “#Sandesh2Soldiers” to invite people to send letters and messages to the armed forces has received appreciation from all corners. Now, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan have sent poignant messages to soldiers. Significantly, this came at a time when ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ controversy has cast its darkest shadow over the film fraternity and division became apparent.

In a four-minute video released on the NaMo app, MyGov.in and Doordarshan, PM Modi appeals to people to send messages to soldiers on Diwali. “On festivals we remember our loved ones. Send your love and wishes to our soldiers who give up their life and comfort for our safety,” PM Modi said in the video. Doordarshan is also going to mount a programme to share people’s emotions with the armed forces. A special module has been launched on the Narendra Modi App to enable people to send greetings or their hand-written messages to the armed forces. The video starts with a child sending a ‘Thank You Rocket’ to soldiers for defending the nation under extreme conditions. It also shows a mother remembering her son while making sweets.
