5 Pakistani soldiers were killed while 6 others were injured in retaliatory fire assaults by the Indian Army in Bhimber and Battal sector of Jammu and Kashmir, ANI reported citing sources. Pakistan has constantly been shelling Indian villages across LoC in the last few days. Army Chief General Bipin Rawat had also held a meeting in Jammu and Kashmir and discussed issues of logistics improvement, mobilisation and security review on LoC area.
Apart from this, an Indian Army person was quoted saying by the agency that India is retaliating strongly to Pakistan. “The Indian army posts are retaliating strongly and effectively and the firing is presently on,” he said. Earlier in the day, ANI had reported that one civil General Engineering Reserve Force (GREF) labourer was killed and two others, including a Border Security Force (BSF) head constable, were injured in the ceasefire violation by Pakistan Army at Krishna Ghati sector of Jammu and Kashmir. “The injured have been referred to the GMCH, Jammu,” Harun Malik, Deputy Commissioner, Poonch had told the agency.
The report added that small arms, automatics, 82 mm and 120 mm mortars were used for shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Naushera and Krishna Ghati sectors. The infiltration bids have increased in the recent times and two militants were killed in an encounter in Baramulla district’s Sopore area as well. “Yesterday, a grenade attack was carried out on a police deployment party in Sopore town in which four policemen were injured,” Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir, SP Vaid said while adding that CCTV footage helped to identify them, reported PTI.
Meanwhile, ANI reported that the Indian Deputy High Commissioner JP Singh was summoned by Pakistan foreign office over alleged LoC firing by India.
