The accident occurred as two passenger vehicles, a coaster and a Mazda, collided from opposite directions. The death toll is expected to rise as several injured are in critical condition, reported the Dawn.
While rescue teams have been called on the spot, volunteers and passersby have shifted the injured and dead to District Headquarters Hospital in Rawalpindi and Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).
A police contingent has reached the spot and a probe has been initiated to ascertain the circumstances of the accident. According to preliminary reports, it was caused due to rash driving. (ANI)
