Higher Education Minister, Government of Karnataka
Overview
The last 18 months have changed the space of education with the distinctive rise of e-learning. While the transition to online has enabled some students to continue learning, the lack of internet access and technology has hampered the participation of others. According to the data shared by the Karnataka Government, of the 93 lakh students who have been accounted for 31.3 lakh students in the state don’t have access to digital devices. Furthermore, 37.8 lakh students lack access to the Internet. As Covid-19 continues to impact students across the country, it is imperative that they are enabled with the right technology and tools to benefit from online education. With Indian Express and Adobe’s States in Education webinar series, we aim to understand the need to bridge the digital divide and make e-learning a part of the new normal.
