Who was Sitaram Panchal? The 54 year old Bollywood actor who lost his battle with cancer

Bollywood actor Sitaram Panchal who had been battling with kidney and lung cancer for as long as three years, passed away on Thursday morning.

Bollywood actor Sitaram Panchal who had been battling with kidney and lung cancer for as long as three years, passed away on Thursday morning. A relative informed Indian Express about the demise of the actor and said he was having breathing difficulties and was not well since a long time. Panchal was a graduate from the National School of Drama. He started his Bollywood career with Bandit Queen back in 1996 and then went on to do films alongside superstars like Akshay Kumar and Irfan Khan. During his lifetime, Panchal worked in films like Peepli Live, Pan Singh Tomar, The Legend of Bhagat Singh, Slumdog Millionaire, etc. Earlier in the year, he received the Om Puri Life Time Achievement Award.

In his prolonged battle with cancer, the actor had appealed to the people for monetary help since it became difficult for him to afford the expenses of the treatment. His Facebook post read, “Brothers, please help me, I am suffering from cancer, your actor brother, Sitaram Panchal.” Following his appeal on th social networking site, Cine & TV Artistes Association (CINTAA) came to the actor’s rescue and requested help from the fraternity. “#HELP #SITARAMPANCHAL It pains us to hear the suffering of our esteemed member Shri Sitaram Panchal, we assure him of all the help we can provide to him in his hour of need and also urge all of you to open your hearts. Actor Anil Kapoor extended his concern for Panchal and expressed his grief over the actor’s condition on Twitter. He wrote, “In our busy lives, news like this tends to get lost in the noise. Pls help Sitaram in his time of need!” The actor was bed ridden for the past 10 months and due to financial crisis couldn’t bear the medical expenses. The latest images which emerged on the social networking site was evident of his detoriated condition.
