John Abraham starrer ‘Welcome Back’ has been a surprise package, as far as its revenue generation capabilities are concerned. ‘Welcome Back’ box office collections soared to Rs 14.35 crore on day 1 making it the 3rd-biggest opener of 2015 after Salman Khan’s ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, which had raked in Rs 27.25 crore, and Akshay Kumar’s ‘Brothers’, which had minted Rs 15.2 crore on release day. The movie also moved ahead of ‘Gabbar Is Back’ and ‘ABCD 2’ collections.
On day 2 ‘Welcome Back’ collected as much as Rs 17.05 crore at the box office and on day 3, the film managed Rs 19.60 crore – three day (opening week) total box office collections hit Rs 51 crore. It was predicted that ‘Welcome Back’, which did not have any other big films clashing with it at the box office, could reach the Rs 50 crore mark at the domestic box office in its first weekend itself and that is exactly what it achieved.
On day 4 Welcome Back received Rs 7.52 crore, indicating that it missed out on the word-of-mouth quotient that is critical in dragging crowds to theatres. In the domestic market, the movie has now earned Rs 58.52 crore. And, if we add the foreign take to the total, the sum rises up to a very creditable Rs 68.68 crore.
However, the movie virtually fell off the map as Friday neared and Welcome Back finished at Rs 74 crore (provisional figure).

Director Anees Bazmee has made Welcome Back comedy ‘loud and relentless’. Needless to say, his films are not for sensitive palates. Welcome Back is a sequel to 2007’s Welcome.
This comedy flick features an ensemble cast of Anil Kapoor, John Abraham, Nana Patekar, Paresh Rawal, Shruti Haasan, Naseeruddin Shah and Dimple Kapadia.
