WEF 2018: Shah Rukh Khan along with actor Cate Blanchett and singer-songwriter Elton John, received the Crystal award at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Monday. The Bollywood actor received the award for his leadership in championing children's and women's rights in India. Shahrukh Khan thanked his wife, sister, and daughter for making it possible for him to get this honour. The 52-year-old star received the award for showing an exemplary commitment to uphold human dignity through his non-profitable Meer Foundation. Khan is the founder of the non-profit foundation, which provides support to female victims of acid attacks and major burn injuries through medical treatment, legal aid, vocational training, rehabilitation and livelihood support. The mission of the foundation is \u201cTo enable, enhance and encourage \u2013 empower women by making them feel appreciated and inspired, and to foster humility, pride and gallantry among the men in their lives. To tap into the bravery, warmth and optimism that exists within us all.\u201d Khan was at his wittiest best when he asked actress Cate Blanchett for a selfie publicly and immediately quipped that it may leave his children embarrassed, sending the audience into peals of laughter. Receiving the award, Khan talked extensively about his social initiative, which he has named after his father and the reason for the same.
