Yesterday only it was reported that the movie is proving to be a hit at the box office and is registering more than 90 percent occupancy rates at movie theatres. The Rs 100 crore figure was tweeted by industry tracker Ramesh Bala, “Vivegam 1st Weekend (Aug 24th – 27th) WW BO: #India – Rs 69.50 Cr Overseas – Rs 36.50 Cr Total – Rs 106 Cr A Non-Rajini/Shankar Record!”. Earlier, the movie became a top-grossing film on the Ganesh Chaturthi weekend all over India. The movie even hit the collections of Bollywood competitor, Sidharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez-starrer A Gentleman.
In one of the remarkable feats, the movie became the highest grossing opening film in the Chennai and has beaten the opening weekend collection of SS Rajamouli’s blockbuster Baahubali 2. In Chennai alone, the film raked in Rs 5.75 crore in its four-day opening weekend. As per an India Today report, Baahubali 2 made Rs 3.24 crore in three days while Vivegam has made Rs 4.28 crore. On Monday, trade analyst took to Twitter and said that movie has made over Rs 90 lakh in Australia and over Rs 80 lakh in the United Kingdom. Reports say that the movie has brought the festivity look back in the theatres of Tamil Nadu, which had suffered a mega jolt post-demonetisation.
