Upcoming Bollywood movies releasing in August 2016 in India: Over the month of August a set of movies are in the pipeline that are guaranteed to thrill and mesmerise you with their grand opulence, action-packed drama and star-power. The action starts with a bang as two of the biggest movies of August are set to hit the screens on the same day – Mohenjo Daro, which stars Hrithik Roshan and Akshay Kumar in Rustom. Truly, a clash of titans as both the actors have starred in some of the most successful and spell-binding movies that Bollywood ever created.
Both these movies will look to overwhelm film lovers with the retro looks and content, but the effect is intended to be all contemporary that youths can identify with. While they may not have been hyped up as much as say, Salman Khan’s Sultan or to an even larger extent southern superstar Rajinikanth’s Kabali, nevertheless they have taken the world of Bollywood lovers by storm with their teasers, posters and slick promotional drives. Nothing has been left to chance to charm the audience and ensure success at the box office.
Mohenjo Daro, which also stars the newcomer Pooja Hegde, has Ashutosh Gowariker as director. Aside from the lead actress, veterans are at the helm controlling all aspects of the filmmaking task. Rustom has a relatively experienced actress in the form of Ileana D’Cruz while Tinu Suresh Desai is the Director.
However, both the movies are poles apart in terms of content. While Mohenjo Daro, as is clear from the title itself is based on an ancient civilisation, Rustom is all about a real-life cuckolded Indian Naval officer K M Nanavati shooting his wife’s lover in a fit of rage and thereafter he managed to churn the judiciary and India at large with this extraordinary case in the 60s. A rivetting saga indeed that has already once turned into a muse for Bollywood with Vinod Khanna in the lead role.
For those who want more, there is no shortage of irreverance and high drama because in the works slated for a middle of August release is the oddly named Happy Bhaag Jayegi that has Abhay Deol and Diana Penty in the lead roles. It is different from the other Bollywood fare and will give film-goers some respite from the heavy fare that had been rolled out earlier. Others in the cast are Ali Fazal and Jimmy Shergill.
For those who yearn for adventure on celluloid, there will be no dearth of action packed sequences either as, virtually at the end of August, filmlovers will be able to see a hugely improved ‘newcomer’ Tiger Shroff blast out the opposition in A Flying Jatt – believe us, the man can perform miracles with his thrills-per-second moves! Of course, you will need to recognise him more from his muscles than clean shaven look as he sports a beard and even a turban. That he has quickly come of age is clear from the fact that opposite him is Jacqueline Fernandez who has been around Bollywood for a few years now.
A number of other releases are slated for the month too, but they are not expected to make too many waves, except to widen the choice for those who like variety. For them, Bollywood has films like Babuji Ek Ticket Bambai, Budhia Singh – Born To Run, Fever, Hai Apna Dil Toh Awara, Purab Ki Awaz and more. As can be seen, the action never stops and there is something for everyone to get dazzled by or even pass the time of day. The month is going to be as exciting as July, when Sultan, Kabali and to an extent Madaari made it one of the most profitable months for the industry while at the same time making for hordes of ecstatic fans. The upcoming releases are all set to captivate the audience all over again.
